OPEN class: Gerstl set the speed at first free training

Three drivers have registered for the BOSS GP OPEN class at the “Peroni Race Weekend” in Imola (CZ). Season races 13 and 14 will take place at the circuit in the north-east of Italy. The first free practice was scheduled on Friday morning (29th of September) at 10:20 a.m. It was a smooth practice session under great conditions.

Both BOSS GP classes – OPEN and FORMULA class – went on track together for the practice session. Weather conditions in Imola are great: 17°, sunny and dry. With the exception of one red flag phase, due to a spun off the track by FORMULA class driver Walter Steding (Inter Europol Competition), practice turned out well and ran smoothly. All three OPEN class driver tested their cars on the track.

Austrian Ingo Gerstl (Top Speed) led the grid and set the speed on the legendary track in his Toro Rosso STR1. He performed his best lap in 1:23,168 min. Dutch youngster Rinus van Kalmthout (Mansell Motorsport), back on track for the BOSS GP after racing the USF2000 Series during the last monts, followed with the second best lap time of the practice session in 1:29,027 min with his Dallara GP2 Evo.

Phil Stratford (Penn Elcom Racing) finished the practice session on position 3 of the overall grid as well of the OPEN class grid. The American performed his best lap in 1:31,375 min with his Benetton B197 and raced a total of twelve laps on the 4,909 km long track.

Timetable for the “Peroni Race Weekend” in Imola (ITA)

This weekend BOSS GP will be part of the “Peroni Race Weekend” in Imola in north-east Italy. Season races 13 and 14 are the final stage of the BOSS GP Championship season 2017. Starting on Friday with the first free practice, the BOSS GP crew is looking forward to an exciting race-weekend on the legendary track in Imola.

The “Peroni Racing Days” unite a couple of different race series in Imola on the “Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari” from 29/09/2017 (Friday) until 01/10/2017 (Sunday). Racingfans will come on pole position on the track, who was home of the Formula 1 from 1980 until 2006. Not only BOSS GP season races 13 and 14 will take place this weekend, but also racing series such as Coppa Italia Turismo, Lotus Cup Italia, Endurance Champions Cup and Master Tricolore Prototip.

Following you find the schedule for the BOSS GP race weekend in Imola. Both classes, FORMULA and OPEN, will have as usual the same schedule:

Practice day on Friday, 29/09/2017

Traditionally the race weekend begins for drivers and crews with the first free practice on Friday. First time, drivers will go on track, will be at 10:20 a.m. for the first training session (30 min). Second free practice will start at the afternoon at 3:20 p.m (30 min).

Imola track will be packed full with free practices whole Friday from 09:00 a.m. until ca. 18:50 p.m.

Qualifying and racing day 1 on Saturday, 30/09/2017

10:05 a.m. and 3:40 p.m. will be the dates to watch out on Saturday. Qualifying will be held in the morning at 10:05 a.m (30 min), whereas the first race of the weekend will start in the afternoon at 3:40 p.m (20 min). The “Peroni Race Weekend” will open its schedule in the morning at 8:30 a.m with the Qualifying of the Clio Cup Italia. The programme will close ca. 18:45 p.m..

Racing day 2 on Sunday, 01/10/2017

The second BOSS GP race this weekend will be held on Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m (25 min). The overall schedule provides twelve different races on Sunday. The programme starts at 8:30 a.m. and is about to finish ca. 5:55 p.m.

As every good racing event – the schedule is always subject to – minor – changes.

Final stage of season 2017

BOSS GP is competing at seven different European venues in 2017, holding 14 races in total. Hockenheim (GER) in April, Zandvoort (NED) in May, Paul Picard (FRA) in June, Zolder (BEL) in July, Assen (NED) in August and Brno (CZE) are done. The race weekend in Imola with season races 13 and 14 are the final stage for this years Championship season.

FORMULA class: Fastest lap at first free practice for Raghuanthan

11 drivers have registered for the BOSS GP FORMULA class at the “Peroni Race Weekend” in Imola (ITA) and went on track for first action on Friday morning. Season races 13 and 14 will take place at the circuit in the north-east of Italy on Saturday and Sunday. The first free practice was scheduled on Friday morning (29th of September) at 10:20 a.m. It was a smooth practice session under great conditions.

Both BOSS GP classes – OPEN and FORMULA class – went on track together for the practice session. Weather conditions in Imola are great: 17°, sunny and dry.

With the exception of one red flag phase, due to a spun off the track by Walter Steding (Inter Europol Competition), practice turned out well and ran smoothly. Mahaveer Raghunathan (PS Racing by Coloni Motorsport) showed the fastest performance of the FORMULA class at the first practice session on the 4,909 km long track with a lap time of 1:31,968 min in his Lola Auto GP.

Raghunathan, staying twelve laps on track, was followed sharply, with a enormous close gap of just 0,018 sec, by Salvatore De Plano (MM International Motorsport) with a best lap time in 1:31,986 min. The Italian showed a good performance in his Dallara GP2. Highly ambitious, the local hero racing in Imola wants to “push, push, push”. It was Johann Ledermair (Ledermair Motorsport), who completed the trio on top of the grid. With 1:32,702 min he showed the third fastest time of the FORMULA class during first free practice in his Dallara GP2.

Florian Schnitzenbaumer (Top Speed), Walter Steding (Inter Europol Competition), Armando Mangini (MM International Motorsport), Karl-Heinz Becker (Becker Motorsport), Martin Kindler (Jenzer Motorsport), ‘PETER’ (Ray-Ban) and Nicolas Matile (PS Racing by Coloni Motorsport) completed the grid. René Kouwenberg had some issues with the time transponder, but went on track for practice session as well.
