Dutchman Klaas Zwart secured Pole-Position for the BOSS GP race 1 lapping the Autodromo Nazionale Monza with his Jaguar R5 in 1:29;929 minutes, despite suffering from gearbox problems.

“I am absolutely delighted to be on top, especially because of the technical issues we had. But I am sure, we will get that sorted until the race start”, Zwar said.

Also his fiercest rival Ingo Gerstl had a troublesome session and placed his Toro Rosso on P2 a second adrift Zwart. “For some reason, we could not get the full power out of the engine. Thus, it was vital to get the car in the front row”, the Austrian explained.

Comebacker Frits van Erd came third just ahead of Peter Milavec, who was happy to have overcome yesterday’s suspension failure. “P3 is a fantastic result for today. I hope, I can defend the spot and finish on the podium tomorrow”, van Erd said.

In the closer-than-ever FORMULA class, Austrian Chris Höher set the fastest time of 1:36;310 minutes in his GP2 car, outpacing the AutoGP racers of Luis Dorrbecker and Christof von Grünigen.

“Standing on Pole is great, but I expect a close race, because Luis and Christof were within striking distance”, Höher said.

FORMULA class standings leader Christopher Brenier improved on his practice times to come fourth.

Florian Schnitzenbaumer and Karl-Heinz Becker were less fortunate. Neither of them “got the tires in the right temperature window” and thus both “expect some havoc in the chicane at the end of the starting straight.”

Saturday’s race starts at 18:30.
