Race Report Nürburgring
2025/06/16

The second round of the BOSS GP Racing Series took the championship to the Nürburgring. Although there were double winners in all classes, the races were still exciting.

Apart from some fog on Sunday morning, the race weekend in the Eifel region was once again a celebration of motorsport. The BOSS GP was the highlight for many fans.

The most thrilling battles were once again delivered by the two FORMULA classes, featuring GP2, Formula 2 and World Series cars. Although Harald Šlēgelmilhs (LVA, HS Engineering) won both races, intense but fair battles took place behind him between Simone Colombo (ITA, MM International) and Michael Fischer (AUT, Red Rose Racing by LRT). At the end of the second race, it started to rain lightly, enabling Nürburgring expert Fischer to position himself behind Colombo. However, it was not quite enough to get past the former champion in the end. The second race was just as exciting: Colombo overtook pole-setter Šlēgelmilhs at the start and defended his position on the inside lane towards turn 1 and beyond. However, Šlēgelmilhs finally managed to overtake him on lap 1 and pull away.

Colombo then lost his position to Fischer in the GP2/05. Fischer tried everything to stay ahead of Colombo in the red GP2/11 that day. However, with great car control and the right instinct for the final attack, Colombo overtook the Austrian shortly before the end. The result of the FORMULA Pro classification on Sunday was therefore Šlēgelmilhs-Colombo-Fischer.
Further back, Max Cuccarese (ITA, MM International) and defending champion Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) put on a good show, as did the fastest FORMULA driver, Paul O'Connell (IRE, HS Engineering). Thomas Zeltner (SUI, Scuderia Palladio) was unlucky in the second race, suffering engine failure. He had previously demonstrated further progress as a BOSS GP rookie and Nürburgring newcomer.

Stefan Eisinger-Sewald (AUT, Red Rose Racing by LRT) and Andreas Fiedler (GER, Fiedler Racing) joined O'Connell on the FORMULA podium, with Eisinger-Sewald finishing ahead in one race and Fiedler in the other.

Ulf Ehninger (GER, ESBA-Racing) won the BOSS GP F1 Class this weekend in the beautiful Benetton B197 with a V10 engine. Ehninger was able to compete in all sessions at his home race, providing an absolute highlight for spectators from Friday to Sunday.

Following the retirements of Andreas Hasler's World Series V6 and Stefan Eisinger-Sewald's Formula 3000 at Hockenheim, the SUPER LIGHTS class also became a 'race of two' at the Nürburgring. Stefan Schoech (GER) won both races in spectacular fashion in his Lola Formula 3000. Henry Clausnitzer (GER, WF Racing) came second in both races with his Formula Renault V6.
In less than three weeks, the action will continue at the popular high-speed Monza circuit, where the championship's decisive phase is set to begin.
