Two
half-hour practice sessions were held on the first race day in the Netherlands.
The driving time was used extensively by the 17 pilots, some of them completed
over 35 laps. The BOSS GP pilots gathered experience for the remaining weekend,
although according to the weather forecast it could rain tomorrow as opposed to
today.
The fastest time was once again set by Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed), who even beat his own track record in the Toro Rosso STR1 with a time of 1:18.246. It was also the Austrian who, together with Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center), represented the BOSS GP at yesterday’s show run in the city centre of Assen. On the „Coulthard Road“, BOSS GP showed what 800 hp are capable of. Over 200 kph and „donuts“ on public roads delighted the approximately 20,000 fans.
Back to the Friday practice sessions: Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) set the tone for the FORMULA cars. The leader of the standings underlined his favourite role for qualifying tomorrow morning (Saturday, 10:50 a.m.) with the best time in the class of FORMULA cars. Second fastest FORMULA driver today: Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) ahead of Bracalente, who is obviously trying to recover from Monza’s messed up weekend. Today’s fourth best time brings him into the top 5 and thus into Q1.
The biggest surprises of today’s practice day were Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) and Peter Göllner (SUI, Speed Center). Göllner finished fifth with 1:29.729 in the Free Practice 2, Haezebrouck sixth with 1:29.8. Also „Piter“ (FRA, Ray-Ban) was able to impress and could play a bigger role in the midfield this time than in previous races.
For BOSS GP
this race weekend will kick-off second half of the season. After Hockenheim,
Red Bull Ring and Monza the races 7 (Saturday, 17:10) and 8 (Sunday, 11:50)
will take place in Assen. Tickets are still available on site.
Zwei halbstündige Trainings standen am ersten Renntag in den
Niederlanden am Plan. Die Fahrzeit wurde von den 17 Piloten ausgiebig genützt, von
einigen wurden über 35 Runden abgespult. Damit sammelten die BOSS GP-Piloten
Erfahrungswerte für das weitere Wochenende, wenngleich es morgen laut
Wetterbericht im Unterschied zu heute regnen könnte.
Die schnellste Zeit setzte wieder einmal Ingo Gerstl (AUT,
Top Speed), der im Toro Rosso STR1 mit 1:18.246 sogar seinen eigenen
Streckenrekord unterbot. Der Österreicher war es auch, der gemeinsam mit Alessandro

Zweitschnellster FORMULA-Fahrer heute: Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) vor Bracalente, der sichtlich bemüht ist, das verkorkste Wochenende von Monza wieder gut zu machen. Die viertbeste Zeit von heute Freitag bringt ihn unter die Top-5 und damit in Q1.
Die größten Überraschungen des heutigen Trainingstages

Für den BOSS GP geht’s an diesem Rennwochenende in die zweite
Saisonhälfte. Nach Hockenheim, Red Bull Ring und Monza finden in Assen die
Saisonläufe 7 (Samstag, 17:10 Uhr) und 8 (Sonntag, 11:50 Uhr) statt. Tickets

Es war der Konter des Rekord-Champions: Nachdem gestern Phil
Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) zum zweiten Mal in diesem Jahr Ingo Gerstl (AUT,
Top Speed) schlagen konnte, war heute für Stratford nichts zu holen. Ingo
Gerstl holte mit einer dominanten Vorstellung in seinem Toro Rosso STR1 seinen
vierten Saisonsieg und baut damit die Gesamtführung wieder aus.
Phil Stratford versuchte Gerstl zwar zu folgen, doch der
Sieger von gestern blieb in Runde 9 plötzlich stehen. Ein technischer Defekt am
Benetton B197 zwang Stratford zwischen den zwei Lesmo-Kurven zum Halt.
In der FORMULA-Klasse wiederholte Marco Ghiotto (ITA,
Scuderia Palladio) seinen Sieg von gestern. Nur eine Safety-Car-Phase kurz vor
dem Ende brachte ihn ins Schwitzen, ansonsten hatte der Onkel von Formel-2-Fahrer
Luca Ghiotto alles im Griff. Ghiotto ist nach seinem Doppelsieg an diesem Rennwochenende
erstmals Tabellenführer in der BOSS GP FORMULA Kategorie.
Marco Ghiotto: „Heute war es leicht. Bei der Abstimmung bin
ich auf Nummer sicher gegangen und habe den Heckflügel nicht so flach
eingestellt wie gestern. Gleich wieder zu gewinnen ist beim Heimrennen hier in
Monza für das Team und mich als Italiener ein sensationelles Erlebnis.“
Sonntags-Podium: v.l. Bracalente, M. Ghiotto, OPEN-Sieger Gerstl, Fiedler
Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) hatte gestern einen
Tag zum Vergessen. Ohne Punkte und mit dickem Hals ging er gestern zu Bett. Im
heutigen zweiten Rennen gelang ihm mit dem zweiten Klassenrang die Rückkehr
aufs Podest. Zu danken hatte er das auch seinem deutschen Team Speed Center,
die noch spätnachts an mehrere Autos parallel schraubten. Die Tabellenführung hat
Bracalente zwar an Marco Ghiotto verloren, doch mit dem zweiten Platz im
heutigen Sonntagsrennen bleibt er für die kommenden Rennen in Schlagdistanz.
Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) lieferte wie schon
gestern eine Aufholjagd vom Feinsten. Vom letzten Platz gestartet überholte er
Runde um Runde einen Konkurrenten nach dem anderen. Nach den Überholvorgängen
an Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) und Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM
International) war er in Runde 4 schon Klassen-Fünfter. In Runde 6 waren dann Philippe
Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) und Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) fällig.
Auf Klassenrang 3 angelangt, war der Abstand zu Marco Ghiotto und Bracalente zu
groß, um noch einen weiteren Angriff zu starten.
Martucci wurde letztlich Klassen-Vierter, und damit bester
der italienischen MM International-Mannschaft. Teamkollege Ripoli fuhr auf Rang
5 ins Ziel, vor Salvatore de de Plano (ITA, Top Speed).
Deutlich schwerer tat sich heute Phillipe Haezebrouck. Nach
dem starken vierten Platz gestern, wurde er heute im Rennen zurückgereicht und
am Ende Siebenter der FORMULA.
Armando Mangini (ITA, MM International) war lange Zeit ebenfalls
weit vorne dabei, bei ihm führte ein technischer Defekt zum vorzeitigen Ausfall.
Die BOSS GP fährt das nächste Mal in fünf Wochen. In Assen starten

Marco Ghiotto wins again in FORMULA and Ingo Gerstl strikes back in the OPEN category.
It was the
counterattack of the record champion: After Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom)
had beaten Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) for the second time this year
yesterday, Stratford had no chance today. Gerstl took his fourth victory of the
season with a dominant performance in his Toro Rosso STR1 and thus extends the
overall lead again.
Phil
Stratford tried to follow Gerstl, but yesterday’s winner suddenly stopped in
lap 9. A technical problem on the Benetton B197 forced Stratford to stop
between the two Lesmo corners.
In the
FORMULA class Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) repeated his victory of
yesterday. Only a safety car shortly before the end made him sweat, otherwise
the uncle of Formula 2 driver Luca Ghiotto had everything under control. Ghiotto
is now the championship leader in the BOSS GP FORMULA category for the first
time after his double victory this race weekend.

adjust the rear wing as flat as yesterday. To win again at the home race here
in Monza is a sensational experience for the team and for me as an
Italian“.

Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) had a day to forget yesterday. Without points
and very mad he went to bed yesterday. In today’s second race he managed to
return to the podium with second place in his class. He also had to thank his
German team Speed Center, who screwed several cars at the same time late at
night. Although Bracalente has lost the lead in the points standings to Marco
Ghiotto, with second place in today’s Sunday race he remains within striking
distance for the coming races.
Andreas
Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) showed, as he did yesterday, a race to catch up
at its best. Started from last place, he overtook one competitor after the
other lap after lap. After overtaking Walter Steding (DEU, Inter Europol) and
Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) he was already fifth in class in lap 4.
In lap 6 he overtook Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) and Luca Martucci
(ITA, MM International). Having reached class rank 3, the distance to Marco
Ghiotto and Bracalente was too big to start another attack.
Martucci
finally finished fourth in his class and was the best of the Italian MM
International team. Teammate Ripoli finished 5th, ahead of Salvatore de Plano
(ITA, Top Speed).
Phillipe
Haezebrouck had a much harder time today. After a strong fourth place
yesterday, he was handed back in the race today and finished seventh in
FORMULA.
Armando
Mangini (ITA, MM International) was also a long time in the lead, a technical
defect led to his early retirement.

Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed) ist wieder geschlagen: Phil
Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) gewinnt zum zweiten Mal nach Spielberg und setzt
damit seine Aufholjagd in der OPEN-Meisterschaft fort. Beim Restart nach einer
Full Course Yellow reagierte Stratford schneller als Gerstl auf die Freigabe
und überraschte so den Seriensieger. Zwar versuchte Gerstl immer wieder auf den
Geraden auszuscheren, aber Startford blieb gelassen und fehlerfrei. Für
Stratford war es der insgesamt vierte Karriereerfolg in der BOSS GP.
„Ich habe das für mein Team gemacht. Die haben fast die ganze Nacht über noch am Getriebe geschraubt, nur damit ich heute fahren kann. Mit dem Sieg kann ich Mansell Motorsport und der Judd-Crew was zurückgeben.“
Dritter in der OPEN-Klasse wurde wie in Hockenheim „Piter“ (FRA,
Ray-Ban), der damit seinen dritten Podestplatz feierte.

Ein sensationelles Rennen lieferten wiederholt die Piloten
der FORMULA-Kategorie. Zwar verteidigte Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio)
seine Führung vom Start bis ins Ziel, zwei Full Course Yellows ließen seinen
immer wieder herausgefahrenen Vorsprung wieder schmelzen. Doch Ghiotto hielt dem
Druck stand und gewann wie im letzten Jahr am Eni Circuit Monza. Für ihn und sein
Team Scuderia Palladio ist der Erfolg in der Heimat etwas ganz Besonderes.
Den Spirit der BOSS GP erlebte Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler
Racing): Gestern bemerkte er nach den Freien Trainings einen Schaden an seinem
Heckflügel. Das Risiko eines Bruchs auf der Highspeed-Strecke in Monza wollte
er verständlicherweise nicht eingehen, darum kam nur ein Wechsel in Frage. Doch
Fiedler hatte keinen Ersatz bereit, kurzerhand spendierte Scuderia Palladio ihm
einen Heckflügel und ermöglichte Fiedler den Start.

Umso schöner, dass letztlich auch der vom letzten Platz
gestartete Fiedler neben Ghiotto am Podest stehen durfte. Fiedler setzt sich in
einem über mehrere Runden andauernden Kampf gegen Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International)
und Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) durch.
Martucci hatte einen fantastischen Start aus der fünften
Reihe und konnte auch im Rennen die Rundenzeiten der Top-Gruppe mitfahren.
Platz 3 ist sein bestes Resultat in diesem Jahr. Auch Le-Mans-Starter Haezebrouck
war lange Zeit auf Podestkurs unterwegs, letztlich musste er bei seinem ersten
Rennen im Team Speed Center mit Klassenrang 4 leben.
Wie Martucci und Haezebrouck war auch Walter Steding einer
der Gewinner der Startphase. Hinter Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) fuhr
er als Klassen-Sechster ins Ziel, ganz knapp vor Dauerkonkurrent Thomas
Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed).
Sergio Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) wurde als Zehnter
gewertet. Beim Vorstart blieb er zunächst stehen, darum nahm er das Rennen an
letzter Position in Angriff. Nach einer phänomenalen Aufholjagd war er in der
Schlussphase mitten drin im Kampf ums Podium. Doch ein Dreher im Duell mit
Fiedler ruinierte sein Rennen unglücklicherweise eine Runde vor Schluss.
Die Startphase weniger gut in Erinnerung haben Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) und Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center). De Plano erwischte Bracalente in der Anbremszone zu Kurve 1 und dreht ihn um. Für de Plano war das Rennen vorbei, Bracalente konnte mit Rückstand weiterfahren. Später im Rennen schied er aber genauso wie seine Teamkollegen Peter Göllner (SUI) und Christian Eicke (SUI) aus.
Morgen stehen ein Warm-up (10:35 Uhr) und das zweite Rennen (14:35 Uhr) am Plan.

(AUT, Top Speed) is beaten again: Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) wins for the
second time after Spielberg and continues his race to catch up in the OPEN
championship. At the restart after the first Full Course Yellow, Stratford
reacted faster than Gerstl to the clearance and surprised the serial winner.
Although Gerstl tried again and again to get by on the straights, but Startford
remained calm and mistake-free. It was Stratford’s fourth career success in the
BOSS GP.
„I did that for my team. They were working on the gearbox almost the whole night, just that I could drive today. With the victory I can give Mansell Motorsport and the Judd crew something back.“

The pilots of the FORMULA category delivered once again a sensational race. Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) defended his lead from start to finish, but two Full Course Yellows let his lead melt away again and again. But Ghiotto withstood the pressure and won like last year at the Eni Circuit Monza. For him and his team, Scuderia Palladio, success at homeland is definitely something very special.

Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) experienced the spirit of the BOSS GP: Yesterday
he noticed damage to his rear wing after free practice. Understandably, he
didn’t want to take the risk of a failure on the high-speed track in Monza, so
a change was the only solution. But Fiedler didn’t have a spare wing, so
Scuderia Palladio gave him a rear wing and made it possible for Fiedler to
start.
It was even
nicer that Fiedler, who started from last place, was able to stand next to
Ghiotto on the podium. Fiedler beats Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International) and
Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center) in a fight that lasted several laps.

Martucci
had a fantastic start from the fifth row and was also able to run the lap times
of the top group in the race. 3rd place is his best result this year. Also, Le
Mans starter Haezebrouck was on a podium spot for a long time, in the end he
had to cope with position 4 in class in his first race for Speed Center.
Like
Martucci and Haezebrouck, Walter Steding was one of the winners of the starting
phase. Behind Gianluca Ripoli (ITA, MM International) he finished sixth in his
class, just ahead of permanent competitor Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed).
Sergio
Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) was ranked tenth. At the pre-start his car
stopped, so he had to tackle the race in last position. After a phenomenal race
to catch up he was in the middle of the fight for the podium in the final
phase. But a spin in the duel with Fiedler unfortunately ruined his race one
lap before the end.
Salvatore de Plano (ITA, Top Speed) and Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center) have fewer good memories of the opening stage of the race. De Plano caught Bracalente in the braking zone to curve 1 and turns him around. For de Plano the race was over, Bracalente was able to continue. Later in the race he retired just like his teammates Peter Göllner (SUI) and Christian Eicke (SUI).

Dritte Poleposition im dritten BOSS GP-Rennen 2019 für Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed). Im V10 Toro Rosso STR1 war Gerstl wiederholt der schnellste Pilot im Qualifying. Damit gibt er heute Nachmittag um 16:00 Uhr das Tempo beim Start zum ersten der zwei Rennen vor.
Phil Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) darf sich wieder einmal neben ihm aufstellen. Im Benetton B197 konnte er sich im Vergleich zum Qualifying 2018 um zwei Sekunden verbessern – damit ist die Jagd im Königlichen Park auf Dauerkonkurrent Gerstl eröffnet.
Marco Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) bestätigte die Leistungen vom Freitag: Mit 1:36.169 fuhr er die schnellste Rundenzeit aller Formel-2-Fahrer. Teamkollege und Cousin Sergio Ghiotto geht von Rang 5 aus als drittbester FORMULA-Fahrer ins Rennen.
Dazwischen klassierte sich Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed
Center), der sich als Einziger im turbulenten Qualifying 2 noch in die Top-5 schieben
konnte. Später im Qualifying hatte der FORMULA-Tabellenführende einen Unfall.
Ausgangs der zweiten Schikane drehte er sich innen in die Barrieren. Fürs
Rennen dürften Fahrer und Auto aber wieder fit gemacht werden.
Die italienische Dominanz beim Heimrennen in der
FORMULA-Klasse untermauern Armando Mangini (Startplatz 6), Salvatore de Plano
(Startplatz 7) und Gianluca Ripoli (Startplatz 8). Erster Nicht-Italiener in
der FORMULA-Kategorie ist Philippe Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center). Der
Franzose schließt bei seinem ersten Einsatz im neuen Team an die Ergebnisse von
Hockenheim und Spielberg an.
Als Zehnter startet Luca Martucci (ITA, MM International). Walter
Steding qualifizierte sich trotz eines Drehers ins Kiesbett als guter Elfter. Christian
Eicke (SUI, Speed Center) konnte nach dem Unfall im ersten Freien Training
heute wieder dabei sein und dankte es seinem Team mit Rang 12. Thomas Jakoubek
(AUT, Top Speed) startet von 13, OPEN-Fahrer „Piter“ (FRA, Ray-Ban) im einzigen
World-Series-Auto von 14.
Das Qualifying auslassen musste Pechvogel Andreas Fiedler
(DEU, Fiedler Racing), dessen Heckflügel gestern kaputtging. Er hofft, noch einen
Ersatz bis zum Rennen aufzutreiben.

Third pole
position in the third BOSS GP event 2019 for Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed). In
the V10 Toro Rosso STR1 Gerstl was again the fastest pilot in qualifying. This
means he sets the pace for the start of the first of two races at 4 p.m. this
afternoon.
Phil
Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) will line up next to him once again. In the
Benetton B197 he was able to improve by two seconds compared to qualifying 2018
– this opens the chase for permanent rival Gerstl.

In between
will be Alessandro Bracalente (ITA, Speed Center), who was the only one in the
turbulent Qualifying 2 to make it into the top 5. Later in qualifying the
FORMULA leader had an accident. At the end of the second chicane he spun to the
inside and into the barriers. For the race driver and car should be made ready
again.
The Italian
dominance at their home race in the FORMULA class is underlined by Armando
Mangini (grid position 6), Salvatore de Plano (grid position 7) and Gianluca
Ripoli (grid position 8). First non-Italian in the FORMULA category is Philippe
Haezebrouck (FRA, Speed Center). The Frenchman continues the good pace of
Hockenheim and Spielberg in his first race with the new team.

Martucci (ITA, MM International) starts in tenth. Walter Steding qualified as
eleventh despite a spin into the gravel bed. Christian Eicke (SUI, Speed
Center) was able to participate today after his accident in the first free
practice and thanked his team with rank 12. Thomas Jakoubek (AUT, Top Speed)
will start from 13, OPEN driver „Piter“ (FRA, Ray-Ban) in the only
World Series car from 14.
Andreas
Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) had to miss qualifying, because his rear wing
broke yesterday. He hopes to find a spare wing before today’s first race,
otherwise he must skip another race.

Friday in Monza: Getting used to the high-speed track in the Royal Park.
Speeds beyond 300 kph demand man and machine. It’s good that on Friday there were two 30-minute practice sessions for the BOSS GP drivers.
The fastest
man in this high-speed challenge was Ingo Gerstl (AUT, Top Speed). The reigning
OPEN champion set his fastest time (1:29.929) in the second free practice
session in the afternoon. With similar good conditions tomorrow another big
improvement in lap time is possible for Gerstl in his Toro Rosso STR1.
Phil
Stratford (USA, Penn Elcom) finished with the second-fastest time of the day in
the Benetton B197, by far behind Gerstl but in front of the Formula 2 cars. He
will probably be the only driver who can challenge Gerstl this weekend.
Marco
Ghiotto (ITA, Scuderia Palladio) was third fastest in both practice sessions.
Last year’s winner at Monza is the hottest candidate for FORMULA victory.
Five other
Italians managed to set a lap time of 1 minute 39 seconds: Luca Martucci (MM
International), Sergio Ghiotto (Scuderia Palladio), Armando Mangini (MM
International), Salvatore de Plano (Top Speed), Alessandro Bracalente (Speed
Center) will also be playing a big role in tomorrow’s fight for pole position.
Andreas Fiedler (DEU, Fiedler Racing) failed close to manage a 1:39 lap. In
practice 2 Fiedler was involved in an incident with De Plano, Peter Göllner
(SUI, Speed Center) and Martucci, both Fiedler and Martucci had an early end to
the session.
Christian
Eicke (SUI, Speed Center) set a great time in the first practice session. With
a flattened rear wing and therefore little drag, he managed the second fastest
time in sectors 1 and 3, beaten only by Ingo Gerstl’s Formula 1. However, Eicke
had an accident only a little later at the end of the Ascari variant. But he
will be able to participate again in the fight for pole position on Saturday.
16 starters
will take part in qualifying tomorrow at 9:45 am. Today’s top 5 start in Q1 (8
minutes), the remaining drivers in Q2 (20 minutes). The fastest driver from the
two combined sessions will be the first to start the 25-minute race at 16:00,
the fifth in this BOSS GP anniversary season 2019.
